New to Newgrounds

Posted by DarkspineShanic - July 7th, 2011

Listen here people, I just a few things to say so we can get along. Unneccesary remarks about me or my animation style will get you blocked with a BIG FUCKING X, also comments that are useless and pointless to read that make fun of my style, I will cuss you the fuck out plain and simple. Any questions? Too fucking bad

Alright friend, Have a nice day!

You have a fantastic day yourself

So you plan to respond with hostility to any form of constructive criticism or negative feedback?

That is not a good way to make an introduction. Doing stuff like that will make you come off as stubborn and arrogant, an appearance noobs shouldn't have if they ever want to be a respected Newgrounds member.

And besides, if you say nothing but good about someone's work, they'll never learn how to improve.

Well assuming you have flash knowledge and your profile pictures aren't just traced/recolors, you shouldn't get too much shit from other users.

Good to hear, I hate hearing people complain about how I do things. And on a side note, I really don't care if people critisize me, just that they make it pointless for me to read and it's about something SO LITTLE I just don't care about. Have a great day

But you should care about any mistake you make. You should always want to improve now. Newgrounds isn't like DevianTard or Youtube or the last site you were on. We're not as nice and we will be as brutally honest as possible. So if you respond with a "Fuck you!!!" to someone's criticism, prepare to hear a lot of "No, fuck you!!!", some not even coming from the people who gave the criticism.

Bring it on Newgrounds. I heard this place was full of haters and trolls to fan character sprites and only like orignal sprites. I say "BRING IT THE FUCK ON!" That;s all I have to say. on that. Have a nice day

Don't be silly. There are 'haters' and trolls on every website. This site is no different. We're just more stern. If you're calling the critics haters and trolls, you're sadly mistaken. There's a BIG difference, and you'll know who the true haters and trolls are when you see them.

I know them when I see them. I've seen many of my friends come to this site and get put down because of their fan characters. I'm not backing down out of this, either they shut the fuck up, or it's war.

Wow, plain and simple. Nice bro, just don't get into any fights okay? I'm trying to limit that myself.

I'll try doing that, maybe if it's not neccessary

Newgrounds doesn't hate fan characters. Newgrounds hates Mary Sues. Just like the rest of the internet.

If you don't know what a Mary Sue is, read (the majority of) one of the two following links.
<a href="http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MarySue">http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php /Main/MarySue</a>
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Sue">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Sue </a>

To keep people from ragging on your fan characters, just don't make them overpowered and don't give them corny, over the top backstories like, "Jack Everyhog was the child of God and a demon from Hell that combined with the Darkness. He can kill anything with the palm of his hand and with the Generic Emeralds he becomes stronger than Sonic and Shadow combined. "

Welcome to Newgrounds, and I'd work on those introductions if I were you.

There really isn't anything worse you can do as an artist than blow off people's criticisms as insults. Even if it's harsh, it's merely somebody's opinion that they took the time to write out in hopes that you can improve on your work. The trolls are extremely obvious you shouldn't even feel inclined to respond (Even if you're firing back, it's just an endless volley of "Hurr, I bet he's mad now!).

And as Chdonga said, Newgrounds doesn't hate fan-characters. Newgrounds just hates bad characters period. It just so happens to a lot of fan-characters are quite poorly developed or designed. There are plenty of original characters that attract just as much hate, for the very same reasons that Chdonga provided. A bad character is a bad character, "fan" or not.

Try and keep that in mind, and whatever you do, don't overreact. That's the best way to attract spam and as you put, "haters".

alright bud take care of yourself
